What Is QuantumRF? A Guide to Face and Body Skin Tightening

Learn how QuantumRF works on the face and body, what recovery involves, and who may be a candidate for minimally invasive skin tightening and contouring.

QuantumRF treatment for face and body skin tightening and contouring

Loose skin and localized fullness are not limited to the face. They can affect the jawline and neck, but they can also appear on the upper arms, abdomen, and around the knees. While non-invasive treatments can improve skin quality, some patients want a treatment that works at a deeper level without committing to traditional surgery. QuantumRF was designed to help bridge that gap for selected face and body concerns.

How does QuantumRF work?

QuantumRF is a minimally invasive treatment that delivers controlled radiofrequency energy beneath the skin. The energy is applied through a small treatment probe, allowing it to reach tissue that surface treatments cannot address in the same way.

This controlled heating supports two related processes:

  • Tissue contraction that can improve firmness and definition
  • Collagen stimulation that supports gradual remodeling over time

Because it works beneath the surface, QuantumRF can address both laxity and selected areas of localized fullness. The goal is not to change the character of your face, but to create a firmer and more balanced contour.

What facial areas can QuantumRF treat?

QuantumRF is commonly considered for the neck, jawline, under-chin area, and lower face. These are areas where skin laxity, changes in tissue support, and unwanted fullness often overlap.

On the face, treatment planning is about proportion rather than treating an isolated spot. For example, under-chin fullness, neck laxity, and reduced jawline definition may contribute to the same overall concern. Dr. Wong assesses how these areas relate before recommending where treatment should be focused.

Can QuantumRF be used on the body?

Yes. QuantumRF can also be considered for selected body areas where loose skin or localized fullness affects contour. These may include:

  • Upper arms with crepey or lax skin
  • The abdomen after weight changes, pregnancy, or aging
  • Skin above the knees that appears loose or folded
  • Other localized areas identified during consultation

Body treatment is not simply facial treatment performed on a larger scale. Skin thickness, tissue depth, the amount of laxity, and the dimensions of the area all influence the plan. The abdomen may require a different treatment pattern from the upper arms, while thin skin above the knees requires its own careful assessment.

QuantumRF is intended for contour refinement and tissue tightening in appropriate candidates. It is not a weight-loss treatment, and it cannot reproduce the changes possible with procedures that remove a large amount of skin. Patients with significant skin excess may need to discuss surgical options to understand the full range of treatment possibilities.

Suitability depends on the degree of laxity, the amount and location of fullness, skin quality, general health, and your expectations. A consultation helps clarify whether QuantumRF can produce a meaningful change in the area that concerns you.

Is QuantumRF the same as liposuction?

No. QuantumRF does not involve traditional liposuction. It uses radiofrequency energy to tighten and contour tissue through a minimally invasive approach. It also does not provide the same degree of correction as a surgical neck lift or other facial surgery.

That distinction is important. Patients with mild to moderate concerns may appreciate an option between surface-level treatments and surgery, while patients with more advanced laxity may need a different approach. A consultation helps set realistic expectations.

What happens during treatment?

Dr. Keith Wong begins by assessing your facial anatomy, skin quality, and areas of concern. Local anesthetic is used to maximize comfort. A small probe is then used to deliver radiofrequency energy beneath the skin in the planned treatment area.

The exact treatment pattern is customized rather than applied identically to every patient. Careful planning helps support natural-looking definition on the face and smooth transitions between treated and untreated areas on the body.

Treatment time varies with the size and number of areas. A focused under-chin treatment and an abdominal treatment are different procedures, so your appointment and recovery plan will be explained after the treatment area has been assessed.

What is recovery like?

Temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness, and tightness are expected during healing. The amount and duration vary by individual and by the area treated. Your care team will provide instructions based on your procedure.

Some improvement may become visible after initial swelling resolves. Results continue to develop over several weeks and months as collagen forms and tissues remodel. QuantumRF is often chosen because meaningful improvement may be possible after one treatment, although individual plans differ.

Recovery also depends on location. Swelling along the jawline may feel different from tenderness on the abdomen or upper arms. Planning treatment around work, exercise, travel, and important events can make the healing period easier to manage. Dr. Wong will discuss activity and aftercare guidance that applies to your specific area.

QuantumRF compared with Morpheus8 Burst

Both treatments use radiofrequency energy, but they work differently. Morpheus8 Burst combines microneedling and RF energy to improve concerns closer to the skin’s surface, including texture, pores, fine lines, acne scarring, and skin quality.

QuantumRF works beneath the skin to address deeper tissue laxity, contour, and localized fullness. In selected patients, the two treatments may be combined to address both contour and surface quality.

QuantumRF compared with non-invasive skin tightening

Non-invasive radiofrequency treatments such as Forma heat tissue through the skin without needles or incisions. They are comfortable, require no planned downtime, and are often performed as a series. They can be useful for subtle firming and maintenance.

QuantumRF is minimally invasive and works beneath the skin. It is considered when a patient wants a deeper contouring and tightening approach than a surface treatment may provide. That additional intensity also means local anesthetic, healing, and temporary swelling or bruising must be considered.

Neither category is universally better. The right level of treatment depends on how much correction is needed and how much recovery you are comfortable accepting.

Who may be a candidate?

QuantumRF may be appropriate if you are concerned about:

  • A double chin or localized under-chin fullness
  • Early jowling
  • Loose neck skin
  • Reduced jawline definition
  • Mild to moderate lower-face laxity
  • Loose skin on the upper arms, abdomen, or above the knees
  • A localized body concern that has not responded to exercise or skincare
  • Wanting more correction than a non-invasive treatment may provide

Candidates should also understand that results develop gradually and vary with anatomy, tissue quality, and healing response. During consultation, it is helpful to describe the specific change you want—not just the device you are interested in. This allows Dr. Wong to determine whether QuantumRF, another treatment, or a combination plan is most appropriate.

Questions to bring to your consultation

A useful consultation should give you a realistic picture of both the potential improvement and the recovery involved. Consider asking:

  • Is my concern caused mainly by loose skin, localized fullness, or both?
  • Would QuantumRF or a non-invasive treatment better suit the degree of correction I need?
  • Is one treatment area likely to affect the appearance of a neighbouring area?
  • What swelling, bruising, or activity limitations should I plan for?
  • Would combining QuantumRF with a surface-focused treatment improve my overall plan?
  • Is one session likely to be sufficient for my goals?
